On 24th of October 2000 at 9 a.m. a solemn ceremony took place in the hall of II High School in Nowy Sacz. Its subject was: "St. Francis of Asisee - the patron of ecologists".

During the ceremony, pupils from class 1 F presented fragments of St. Francis' biography, as well as songs and poetry connected with his life and Franciscan idea of enviroment protection. Information about the condition of enviroment in our Province (Malopolska) was also presented (particullary waters). The results are not optimistic: 75,8 % of 1098 kilometres (about 680 miles) are out-classed, 23 % are 3rd class waters, 1,2 % are 2nd class and we have no 1st class waters in our Province! The audience had also a chance to familiarize with the differences between "rich North" and "poor South".

But the real highlight was the exhibiotion of four Franciscan brothers: Ronald, Ozeus, Aucsencius and Yordan from an order in Katowice (south-west Poland). There was some time for reflextion and meditation. Although, we had a lot of fun with learning and singing their songs about St. Francis. It was really tough to part with them.

The ceremony was repeated at 2 p.m. The audience consisted of 11 classes (in both shows).

An solemn announcement of results in the "St. Francis - the patron of ecologists" art competition took place after the show. The laureates were presented with diplomas and prizes.

The ceremony was made with help from our techers (we would like to thank Maria Drozdzak, Marta Kojs, Pawel Ferenc, Tadeusz Ogorzalek and Violetta Halaczkiewicz here).
